SINCE 1915:

Our great adventure begins with a love story that has captivated millions of people in more than 50 countries over the past 109 years.

In 1915, in a small village in La Rioja, in northern Spain, Gregorio had the idea of creating a sneaker, which he named for his first love, his wife Victoria.

In an effort to improve the traditional espadrilles, which were produced with a rubber sole at that time, the newly invented vulcanized technique was incorporated in the 50s. That was when the iconic Victoria canvas sneaker was born, which became the symbol of a whole generation in the 80s.

OUR “V” INSIGNIA, SINCE 1977

The Victoria "V" has been present on our sneakers almost since we began; the oldest example we still have dates from 1977.

It is an industrial model, signed in Logroño on 8 September '77 with the design of a sneaker from the period, certifying that Victoria was the first brand to use this decorative element on footwear, almost 50 years ago.

IT SMELLS OF VICTORIA

Do you know why our sneakers have such a special smell? If you open one of our boxes, you'll notice a strong strawberry aroma. It is not pure coincidence: the reason for this aroma goes back to the Spanish post-war period, when times were hard and people needed to be resourceful.

At that time, the natural rubber we used to make our sneakers was in short supply. At Victoria, we decided to change the recipe and started to recycle tires to make them into soles. As the smell of the tires was so strong, we used a perfume with a strawberry aroma to disguise it, and since then that smell has stayed with us and become one of our trademarks.
